About Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society of Port Jervis, New York, Inc: The our Lady of Mount Carmel Society of Port Jervis, N.Y. was organized in 1923, and was incorporated in 1946. It is a non-profit organization that has been a vital part of the Tri-State community for many years giving monetarily to various worthwhile institutions, and causes such as: Scholarships to both local high schools, Port Jervis and Delaware Valley Schools, member of the Century club at the local hospital, Depot Preservation Fund, Church Street Park, Riverside Park, Winter clothes for kids, Every year, for over fifty years we hosted the Mount Carmel Society Celebration at which is now know as, Riverside Park. It was a huge family entertainment event during the week of July 16th, in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It featured amusement rides, food, games of chance, live music, and gigantic fireworks display each night. along with our nostalgic famous lights, lighting the way down King Street to Riverside Park. The wonderful Sausage and Pepper stand that was operated by our members. We are now in the process of re-introducing this event to the Tri-State area through the Port Jervis Tri-State Chamber of Commerce.
