A call for help this morning activated Battalion 8 Water Rescue team and brought emergency responders and boats to a rural area along Oakland Valley Road in Cuddebackville.
It had been reported that a blue kayak was spotted hung up on rocks in a very shallow stretch of the river, and possibly calls for help may have been heard.
Upon response by multiple fire department units, NYSP, ambulance crews and others, the kayak was retrieved and responders scoured the shores and water on both sides of the clear, shallow waterway for a possible missing subject.
It was determined by water rescue crews that the kayak -- which was brought to shore -- had been in the water for quite a while. It was also determined that there was no missing subject.
Thank you to all who responded: Huguenot, Port Jervis, Cuddebackville and Sparrowbush Fire Departments, Deerpark and New York State Police, and Mobile Medic out of Sullivan County

What date, what river?
