On Wednesday, June 21st, the Port Jervis Business and Professional Womens’s Club held its annual scholarship dinner at the Erie Trackside.
The club awarded fifteen scholarships to high school students from Port Jervis and Delaware Valley , and one adult scholarship. Each scholarship was for $1,500 making the total amount awarded $24,000. Two of the scholarship were given in memory of lifetime members, Mabel Trotta and Johanna Mallison.
Our guest speaker was, David Hoovler who spoke to the recipients about not being afraid of taking a risk, having fun and returning home to serve the community. He said life offers many opportunities and you never know where they will take you.
Each winner received a swag bag provided by the club and was called to the podium to tell the club about their future plans. An enjoyable evening was had by all.
