Busted Stuff? Fix It Up at the Port Jervis Repair Café

By Sherry Mohan-Neves

The newest in the monthly Repair Cafes of the Hudson Valley and Catskills network will open its doors at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Sunday, June 11, from 1-4 p.m.

Repair cafes are staffed by skilled volunteers in varying areas who will do their best to revive your damaged or non-working small appliances and instruments, mend clothing, fix your faulty lamp, sharpen your favorite chef's knife, get that rug shampooer working again -- if you can drag it in, they'll take a shot at it.

At a recent cafe event in Hurleyville, the volunteers repaired our snow-thrower, unclogged our rug shampooer, and sharpened several kitchen knives for the Neves family. Repairs are done free of charge; free-will donations gratefully accepted.

Sunday, June 11, 1-4 p.m.
