Port Jervis Halloween Parade brings fun for children (and adults) of all ages!

By Sharon E. Siegel

PORT JERVIS, NY -- Port Jervis Recreation Department 77th Halloween Parade, complete with refreshments provided and served by the department and recreation commission, brought children and adults of all ages and costume creations to enjoy the annual event together.

The parade line-up was in front of City Hall on Hammond Street at 3 pm, with the parade stepping off 3:30 pm. Children, adults and pets participated with a wide array of clever costumes and plenty of enthusiasm.

Port Jervis High School Band provided peppy Halloween marching music, with many of the high school musicians (and even some of the instruments) dressed in Halloween attire.

The parade processed from Hammond St, down Sussex St., up Jersey Ave. and Pike Streets, and along East and Farnum Streets to Farnum Park.

Farnum House, one of the city's oldest structures, provided a perfect Halloween look as parade goers approached the park to receive cider and donuts served by the recreation department, and prizes awarded for various costumes themes by Port Jervis Elks.

Candy for all the kids, along with prizes, were awarded from the bandstand at the Ulster Place, Farnum Park.

Following the parade a Trunk or Treat event was held at the city's Riverside Park from 4-6 p.m., hosted by Port Jervis' EchoGrace Church,

Happy Halloween, everyone!
