Port Jervis -- a Tree City, USA -- Celebrates Arbor Day 2026

PORT JERVIS, NY -- Two new oak trees were planted at John Glenn Park on Cahoonzie Street to celebrate Arbor Day 2026 in the City of Port Jervis. A dozen-and-a-half people gathered to help plant the trees and to pay tribute to the city's continued designation a Tree City USA.

Mayor Dominic Cicalese read two proclamations, one providing the guidelines and commitment as a Tree City USA and the other recognizing the day as Arbor Day in the City of Port Jervis and urging all to support the efforts to protect trees and woodlands.

Cool weather and slight drizzle was the weather of the day, ideal for the day's Arbor Day spring tree planting event.
