Port Jervis centenarian and lifelong resident celebrated! Happy 100th Birthday, Dolores Gore!

PORT JERVIS, NY – Dolores Gore was saluted by the Port Jervis Senior Club, of which she is a member, as she celebrated a century-long life milestone this month.

Gore turned 100 on August 2, 2026. She celebrated initially with a birthday gathering of her family on her actual birthday, and on August 12th with her fellow Senior Club members, friends, officials, and other members of the community. 

It wasn’t just birthday cake and song that marked the milestone event gathering, but a special performance of solos and medleys by Port Jervis High School vocalists, refreshments provided by club members, and a room full of admirers offering congratulations to the 100-year-old sprightly local woman. 

Senior Club President Linda Van Horn noted that while Gore didn’t want a lot of fuss or special attention, she was glad to share in the occasion with those present and said she had a great time at the club’s special 100^th Birthday Celebration. 

In welcoming those present at the regular monthly meeting of the club and special birthday component, Van Horn pointed out some of the highlights of the centenarian’s life.   Van Horn noted that Gore was born in Port Jervis to Frank and Marie O’Leary McIntire. She lived on Ball Street at the time, August 2, 1926, and was one of two children – Dolores and her sister Betty.

Gore’s husband William worked for the railroad, but died at age 80.  Gore was proud that her husband served in the military as did her father and four of her father’s brothers.  Their family service included the Army, Navy, and Air Force.  Having the celebration at VFW Post #161, where the club’s monthly meeting is ordinarily held, was fitting for one whose family military service has been extensive.

Other than visiting her sister in Las Vegas for several winters after her husband died, and where she helped her sister with some shows, Gore has lived locally for all of her 100 years.  She worked at the Flo Jean for many years, and says she still looks at the site every time she passes and still can’t believe it is gone.

Gore and her husband raised a large family of seven children, and she has 12 grandchildren.  Her son Bill Gore and daughter-in-law Donna Gore were in attendance at the August 12 Senior Club celebration.

In addition to the special half-hour musical performance, Gore was presented with dozens of birthday cards, a key to the city, and a special personalized blanket which displayed during the celebration.
